Lydia's 90th birthday in Oct 2009

Created by Sue 3 years ago

I will remember forever that lovely day in October 2009 when we all came together to celebrate Mum's 90th with a lunch time meal in Windsor followed by champagne and birthday cake back in Cippenham afterwards. It was one of those rare occasions when Mum, John and Vera were all together - 3 cousins then spread across the globe, but all with their roots in the Plumridges of Wooburn Green. There was lots of laughter and reminiscences that day, the weather was perfect and John had his camera at the ready to help capture it all. Mum talked of that day for years afterwards, even when other memories were lost to dementia.

Vera came all the way from South Australia to share that special moment and it seems particularly poignant that John has now passed away in the very month when Vera reaches her own 90th birthday, leaving her the last of the cousins to continue the generation forwards into the future. She has talked to me of her favourite cousin and how he invariable got her into trouble when she went to stay with Granny and Grandad Plumridge, where John spent his early childhood. I have put a couple of photos of this precious birthday gathering in the gallery.

God Bless John. Susan, Mike & Joseph xx
